File Types
Vector Files (Preferred)
Vector formats such as .AI, .EPS, .PDF, or .SVG are strongly recommended.
These files use mathematical paths, allowing artwork to be scaled to any size without losing quality, which is essential for accurate embroidery digitisation.
Important: Convert all text to outlines or curves before saving to avoid font substitution issues.
High-Resolution Raster Files (Accepted)
If vector files are unavailable, we accept .PNG, .JPG, or .TIFF files.
- Minimum resolution: 300 DPI at final size
- Low-resolution images may appear blurry or pixelated when embroidered
Important: Raster files must have a transparent background to prevent unwanted stitching.
Design Considerations
Keep It Simple
Embroidery uses thread, not ink, so fine details do not translate well.
Use clean shapes and bold elements for best results.
Use Solid Colours
- Designs typically use 6–15 colours
- Exact colour matching (e.g. Pantone) may not be possible
- The digitiser will select the closest available thread colour
Gradients & Effects
Gradients and shading can be achieved but are often simplified into solid colour blocks for best results.
Text & Line Requirements
Minimum Text Size
- Recommended minimum height: 4 mm
- Small text, fine scripts, and serif fonts may lose clarity when stitched.
Font Style
- Bold, sans-serif fonts provide the best legibility.
Minimum Line Thickness
- Recommended minimum: 1.3 mm
- Lines thinner than this may not stitch correctly.
Sizing & Placement
Provide Artwork at Final Size
Always supply your design at the exact size you want it embroidered.
Consider the Application
Design size will vary depending on the item. For example:
- Caps require smaller, simplified designs
- Jackets and garments allow for larger, more detailed artwork
The digitiser will also adjust designs based on fabric type and weight to ensure the best finish and avoid puckering.
